I Dream of a Furball

As I sit and ponder about my future
My gaze transfixes on a furry creature
on my neighbor’s balconey, it sits
luxuriating in the sun without a shred of doubt
that happy life is all about

It is a ginger cat of my dream
He wishes I knew how forlorn he has been
But I wish I were a cat
In a great household with loving lads
I come and go as I please
with food and a shoebox at my feet

I know no leashes or am I under pressure
to display undue affection against my nature
I just have to be my self
And I will be lifted and hugged
All because I am by nature good
And go about where furry felines must and should.
